The Purifier is a rank in the Necromonger Empire. The role of the Purifier is to convert humans into Necromongers to replenish the ranks. It is considered to be a high rank; Dame Vaako suggests that The Purifier would be second-in-command after the Lord Marshal.
A member of the Necromonger fleet, The Purifier revealed he was a Furyan like Riddick, and was converted. When Riddick falls unconscious after using the "Wrath of the Furyans", the Purifier pulls him into the safety of the hangar and tells Riddick how the Necromongers all began as something else. Regretting what he has done under the Necromonger influence, the Purifier warned Riddick not to face the Lord Marshal, but that The Furyan in him hoped he won't listen. Having said this, he committed suicide by walking into the sunlight of Crematoria.
A somewhat interesting but subtle part of The Purifier's story, is how he is able to be compared to Riddick, giving some educated implications and guesses on the nature of the Furyan race. Seeing that The Purifier has a slightly weaker, more average physicality than Riddick, that he converted to Necroism unlike his fellow Furyan, and that he seems to be less aggressive or commanding than Riddick. This could imply that not all Furyans are as physically or mentally competent as Riddick, and that members of the Furyan race come in varying calibres.
