Quintana was an inmate in Butcher Bay Correctional Facility and worked in the mine. If Riddick kills the guard near him, he thanks Riddick and points out Shurik's glasses. He also warns Riddick of couple of Blueskins who hunt Riddick. He knows two ways down into the mines, one by the cargo elevator behind him, and the second more difficult way from the other side.
