  • Hey there! Thanks for all the Riddick contributions! I’m writing a story for Ziza as a young woman and was wondering if you knew of more about her. Like was Imam married during Pitch Black 2578AD? Was Ziza born yet? I assumed she had to be 2 or 3 because of the actress’s age, but that would mean that Imam went on the hajj with his students while his wife and daughter were home. I’m not familiar with the Muslim tradition so I wasn’t sure if it was normal for a mentor to travel with students despite having family at home. Any info you have would be great! Thanks :)

    • The wife was only mention in the Chronicles of Riddick. So I assume Abu settled down after arriving on New Mecca. There is a 5 year cap of them arriving on New Mecca, and the beginning of the movie, so there is time for falling in love and having a child. However it was not mentioned if they were married before or after Pitch Black.

The actor of Ziza was 8 years old when the movie came out though, so some time bending in the studio took place.

  • Although it was originally intended that Imam and the others with him be chrislam, it was eventually changed during production of Pitch Black... I believe this was done because they hired actual muslims to play the young muslim characters.

ITs referenced as Islam in chronicles DVD extras.

    • and in the pitch black novelization I think as well...

Chrislam is still mentioned in a few places, but it appears that Islam still exists in its base form. I think they even mention somewhere that New Mecca is based around a shard of teh same holy stone taht mecca s based around (although I dont know much about real world islam so I am sorry if I am misinformed)

    • so yes, while the script refers to them as Chrislam (which I have read) all pupblished material refers to Imam and his followers as Muslims (including the black box)

And from my understanding, since this was changed they probably had a good reason to change them from being Chrislam to Islam.

  • David Twohy returned my emails ( I cant be 100% sure if its the legitimate David Twohy, or if its a secretary, or a fan site masquerading as legit but the David Twohy website seems incredibly legit and I have no reason to doubt it.)

Weird thing is, it was the statues we were most sure about that we got wrong :/

    • on a side note, he also confirms that Deep Necro History is what was included with the Novelization.

    • That Veiko is me, by the way. And he sent me the necrohistory to recently, which turned out to be that link I found myself earlier.

  • you should add a BTS section to each page explaining the reasoning behind why each statue is thought to be that particular lord marshal I think... since they are not confirmed, just the most likely statue to represent each.
